Event Description

Join Siân Quennell Torrington for a dynamic workshop using drawing and fast sculpture making to explore what happens when we use found and scrap materials to express what’s here in the moment. Playful and experimental, this workshop is open to everyone, from complete beginners to experienced artists. Siân will share materials and ways of working from their studio, and you’ll create fast, temporary artworks using drawing, collage and assemblage that represent feeling your way through the current times.

For Wing and a Prayer Siân shows claws that hang from the ceiling – heavy iron works cast from what was soft; fabric and wool scraps from an art practice made of gifts and offerings. They are markers of when we try to reach out, but movement is hard. On the floor pool wool nests cradling the mistakes and overflow from a process of fire and transformation. Hear more from Siân about the themes and making of this work, and create your own pieces.
