About the Artists/Collectives:
Malaga Sā Strings:
Malaga Sā, meaning Sacred Journey, is a Pasifika-led arts collective uniting orchestra, dance, theatre, poetry and choirs. Grounded in faith, culture and community, it nurtures youth pathways and embraces inclusivity, featuring works by local composer, choir director, educator and instrumentalist, Amosa Lene.
DJ Pōmare:
Dyrol John aka DJ Pōmare (Ngā Puhi and Ngāti Whātua o Kaipara) is a Naenae-based artist. He shares music across communities through performances and teaching, including his work with the Shona Strummers and local Ukulele collectives. His practice celebrates connection, whakapapa and participatory music grounded in aroha and kotahitanga.
Modi Shemi:
Mohammedi, widely known as Kaka Modi, is a performer and cultural practitioner whose work spans drumming, dance, song, and teaching. He has toured internationally across 28 countries with Circus Mothers Africa, sharing African performance globally.
