We’re launching Where U From - an exhibition that explores the Sāmoan art of barkcloth-making in the contemporary world – with an opportunity to beat some Siapo yourself.
Where U From artist Doron Riki-Semu will be in the gallery sharing the history of Siapo and showing how it’s made. Visitors will have the chance to scrape the soaked U’a and beat it to split and spread the fibres, creating a piece to take home to dry.
Put on your comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting a little wet in, and pop in for as long as you like to have a go at Siapo making.
