As part of Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, join us for a screening of acclaimed Aotearoa film We Were Dangerous.
Set in 1954 Aotearoa, the film follows three young women sent to an institution for so-called “delinquent” girls. Against a backdrop of colonisation and the suppression of te reo Māori and Māori culture, they find strength in friendship, identity and resistance.
A powerful and at times funny look at a part of Aotearoa’s past — and a reminder of why the revitalisation and celebration of te reo Māori matters today.
